WSCS Minutes
November 14, 2018

Judy Wilkins opened the meeting with a beautiful devotion about Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.”  She also offered our opening prayer.

Role call with our favorite Thanksgiving memory was taken.

Minutes of the October 10 meeting were read.  Barb Lanning moved that the minutes be approved and Gladys Hartman seconded.  The motion carried.

President Carol Smith noted that at our last meeting Gail Deitrick presented the program on Praying Pelican Missions.  In the past, we have always blessed those who present programs with a donation and we neglected to do so in October.  Tami Black moved that we present our Mission Team with a $100 donation as a thank you to Gail for her presentation.  Sonie Stephenson and Gladys Hartman seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Gail Deitrick presented the Treasurer’s Report.  We finished October with a balance of $1,356.83 and received a $100 donation for the funeral dinner that was held.  As a result, our treasury contains $1,456.83 and our Sonshine Fund balance is $191.79.  A check was written for $381.20 to reimburse Tami for the gifts she and Melody Coen purchased for the adopted children from Children’s Services, which brought our treasury balance to $1,075.63.

On Thursday, November 15, if you are helping prepare the meal for the Teachers Sorority, please be at the church by 1 p.m.  If you are helping to serve the meal, please be at the church at 5 p.m.  All are welcome and we can use as many hands as we can get.

Cards were prepared for Charles Paxson, Marie Morehead, Becky Forsythe and Dona Gibson.

Tami will ask Sally Stewart to put a note in our Church Mouse about the collection of socks, underwear and sweats, sized 0-12, for use by Children’s Services.  These will be laid as gifts under our church Christmas Tree,

Our December program on Angels is being presented by Donna Cole.  The December 12 meeting will take place at Donna’s home and will start at 6 p.m.  Please bring a potluck dish to share.

Our cookbook project was discussed, but is being tabled until 2019.  We will not be meeting in January or February 2019 due to possible weather conditions.  We will be doing our Secret Sister Reveal at our March Meeting, which will be held on March 13, at 6 p.m. in Springer Hall.

The meeting adjourned to wrap the gifts purchased for the children from Children’s Services.

Respectfully submitted,

Tami Black

Secretary
